MSIG 50 K Sai Kung

Hi all, Just finished the first 25 K of the coming MSIG Sai Kung. This takes you also over the Sharp Peak? Well i took part of this route couple of weeks ago with my family as a hiking trip which is alright as we took our time. However running this part has become almost dangerous. The trail s completely eroded hardly some solid ground left and lots of small and loose rocks. Particular of you go downhill it is dangerous. The first HK 100 was also routed this way however thry changed the route as the considered it too dangerous .
I only can agree this is no trail for a race. Any other opinion about that? Should Action Asia consider to reroute the part? I for myself probably will skip the run even as you are loosing lot of time there and the risk is vey hight to get injured
Keep on running

Happy Chinese New Year, Alobarhk!
Thanks for that heads up observation! I saw some friends wear that MSIG 50K t-shirt and got me interested. But if the route has some potential danger then I will definitely skip it. Yesterday was a nice day and yet the soul wasn't steady. What if race day was rainy and windy? With many runners going along there it could be dangerous. I'll definitely keep an ear peeled out on any positive developments :)

Re: MSIG 50 K Sai Kung

Happy new Year too
Well thanks very much considring this andvi hope some others cab giv their opinion too
I very much likevthat most of the race does not followvthe McleHose which is most of it concrete ways nowadays, but again it is a race andnthis part is in my opinion too dangerous, andvrightbwhat if we had some rain on or before ,..
Keep running

Hi Alobarhk

Happy New Year! I have moved your post to the Topics section as the Event section is for announcing new events only.

Re: MSIG 50 K Sai Kung

I also agreed that running down the Sharp Peak is extremely dangerous for the loose stones over there. The annually Care Action Hiking Race take place in Dec every year attract over thousands of crazy guy, but many runners get injured. So that I never join this event anymore and also skip the HK 50 Sai Kung this time as well. Sharp Peak is definitely not suitable for trail run.

Re: MSIG 50 K Sai Kung

Thanks Keith

Re: MSIG 50 K Sai Kung

Hi Keith
Thanks and sorry for the trouble caused

Re: MSIG 50 K Sai Kung

Dangerous....come on...think you guys are obviously new to trail running...think a better word to use is "very technical"...same as rock scrambling thru a river gorge...yes you are on the edge when running down Sharp Peak but that's the thrill and challenge of testing the body to see how far you want to push it...if going down any slippery slope you should take it easy and perhaps walk and stick to the sides with vegetation for more foot grip...if you are more experienced and want to push faster and willing to "take the risk" then go for it,...just like skiing or snowboarding down a black diamond run for the first time...no different...life is all about risks and if you don't try then life gets pretty bloody boring...if you like "safe" things then recommend the "boring" SC Marathon...mm

Re: MSIG 50 K Sai Kung

Well what is it now, technical or risky?
As I said everybody sees it different and has to make his decesion wheterr it is worthwhile or not
For my part running trails just about seven years i will think twice about it
