Canadian marathons
I have just finished three Canadian marathons (Edmonton, Quebec City and Montreal) in a row on the last three Sundays. Despite I failed in my ambitious attempt in completing all three within 10.5 hrs, I did succeed in finishing all of them under 3:40 (Edmonton 3:38, Quebec City 3:36 and Montreal 3:27). As a matter of fact, should the weather condition was more favourable, I could have achieve my goal. Comparatively, the course in Edmonton is mostly flat but a bit dull as it is a direct out and back in a horse racing ground in Northland.Furthermore, due to a hill fire happened in the British Columbia, the smoke that caused was blown over to the whole province of Alberta whereby a health hazardous warning was issued by the provincial government two days before the race. The air was still stagnant on the race day.Course in Quebec City is hilly and the weather was hot and sunny on the race day (31C). I got sunburnt after the race. Course in Montreal is somewaht in between the two while the weather was much cooler (12C). It is also sensational to have the finish inside the Olympic Stadium. As a result, my finishing time is the fastest amongst the three.
Organisation and support of all three marathons are flawless. Water, sponge, sport drink, gel and food were adequately provided along the course while lots of tourist and local watching. Food, free massage and shower were provided at all three finish while finisher's certificate was also provided to the runners on the spot in the Quebec City marathon.
All in all, it is an enjoyable experience to run these Canadian marathons.
