Just change to another pair of shoes

Another possibility is that you are crinching your toes when you run. Try to consciously spread your toes when you land and toe off. See if that helps. Previously, I had a case when removing my socks after a run, my fourth toe was resting on top of my third toe due to crinching.

Run for your life??? a book from Dr Ben Tan... was reading his book on the flight back yesterday...

anyway,...i tested running with different kind of socks, still no good :(.. (I can't run without shoe due to shoe size)

but i bought this insole (design for runners with high arch) that extend the pain till 60min...sigh..the strange thing is i can feel the pain moving around my foot when i wear this insole..

Re: Left foot (3rd & 4th toe) Pain

Do you get bruises on your toes? If yes, the volume of your shoes around the toes might be too low and thus press on your toes. Or it could be forward movement within the shoes when you run, then you might want shoes with snugger fit at the ankle and around your feet (back of feet and on the sides up to your arches) so your feet will not move around. Or it could be the opposite that you are tying your shoe laces too tight so they are pressing on certain pressure points/tendons on the top side of your feet (those that are connected to your 3rd & 4th toe). To check for this, try to massage the top side of your foot from the bottom of your 3rd & 4th toe towards your ankle. If your pain can be alleviate, then it could be your tight shoe lace is preventing good blood flow to those toes.

Re: Left foot (3rd & 4th toe) Pain

No, i didn't get any bruises on my toes, or should i say, i didn't notice any bruises on my toes..

As for the shoe laces, I have tried loosen my shoe lace since the day i feel the pain and this is the solution i used when i went for the china coast HM last week.

sigh... why i didn't feel the pain the past, why only after 40min???

Anyway, I got a piece of good news. I went for training last night, and the pain strike. My coach suggested that I tried stamping the ground hard to overcome the pain and it worked. The pain disappeared for 10min and it come back again, but by hitting hard on the ground hard every time it strike.... i managed to complete my training last night. the down side are i used up a lot of energy and it make you look funny for those running behind u.

Re: Left foot (3rd & 4th toe) Pain

Given what you describe, could you ask your training mates to see whether you are landing on your toes? If so, perhaps you should try and land on your midfoot (which explains why stamping on the foot seemed to provide temporary relief) and then toe off for the forward propulsion.
