In recent posts about the RRAC 8K race, one experienced runner said that she (I think it was a female runner) was exhausted by the 4km mark and had to stop running. A couple of the replies suggested that she should go for a medical check up to see if she had any underlying medical problems.
I think it would be helpful to state what type of medical check ups are available, where to go and what the average cost would be.
If you have private or company medical insurance then the process would seem fairly simple, but if you're one of the many people who doesn't have insurance and relies on the nearest hospital accident and emergency ward when you have any form of medical problem then simple advice on where to go and the expected cost would indeed be useful.
