The Anlene Orchard Mile 2007, Singapore

Singapore will be staging a new women's only running event where local and international athletes will be racing one mile down the renowned shopping hub, Orchard Road. The Anlene Orchard Mile 2007 will be held on June 10, starting at 8:30am on Orchard Road near the Dhoby Ghaut MRT station.

The Taiwan veterans' championship will be held May 26&27, the week after the all-China vets in Hangzhou. If you hope to win a free ticket in the Highwise race, this would be a good way to use it. But even if you don't, why not come along for an interesting weekend of tourism and racing. Remember, though, that the age groups start at 35 for both men and women.

How many runners over 60 read HKRunners? I suspect I may be the only one. But HK has lots of over-60 runners, and I need your help to contact Chau Wai Chuen, The Yipper, Tam Sau Lan, Yuen Hung and all the others whom you may know or whom you may see training and racing.

JESSICA Run for Women

JESSICA Run for Women, a charity run for the Cancer Fund, will take place on The Park Island on May 13 (Sun), 2007, starting at 9am. Distance is around 1 km to 4km. The race is open to kids and adults. One of the sponsors CSRA will provide technical support. More details and entry form are available on the organizer's website.

The national veterans' championships will be held in Hangzhou this year May 16-18. There's a limited program of races, but all will be held in 5-year age groups starting at 35. We have won lots of medals in this meet the last few years. If you're old enough, plan to be there. This is your national championships.

For those intending to be in Australia in May, I would recommend taking part in this one on 20 May. The route is two lap around the city area including along the habour front. The weather during May should be cool. Website attached below for event details and registration.

The Southern District Aquathon cum Beach Run will be held on May 13 (Sun). The aquathon, starts at 9:00am, will include 200m swim/2km run, or 450m/4km depending on categories; while the beach run, starting at 10:00m, will be 4km, 3km, or 1km.

RRAC Summer Run 2007

The RRAC Summer Run 2007 will be held on May 20 (Sun) at Ma On Shan Sports Stadium. The race starts at the stadium, follows the cycling track to Sha Tin direction and returns to the stadium. Distance is 3km (starting at 8:10am) for junior 1-3 categories or 8km (starting at 8:00am) for all other categories.

HK Off Road Triathlon

Dear all, We are pleased to announce that we are working with the Hong Kong Triathlon Association to organize an off road triathlon in Hong Kong. The course has been designed by 3-time XTERRA world championship competitor Mike Watson and is approximately half the XTERRA distance, consisting of a 750 meter sea swim, 15 km of off road mountain biking and a 5.5 km trail run. The race location is lovely Wan Tsai Peninsula in Sai Kung Country Park.

The 1st Shatin Mixed Terrain (Cross-Country & Road) Race will be held on Apr 29 (Sun) at Siu Lek Yuen, Shatin, starting at 8:30am. The race starts from Hang Shin Link to Fa Sam Hang and Nui Po Au, run along Mui Tsz Lam Road to A Kung Kok, Shek Mun, and back to Siu Lek Yuen Village. Distance is around 9km.

The aquathon season kicks off with the first PowerBar Splash 'n Dash race at Repulse Bay. Distances are 500m swim & 5km run, or 375m swim & 2.5km run. Individual or team entries are available. These races are a great way to keep fit over summer whilst staying cool!
