Re: Results for Perskindol Shatin 10K Riverside Race 2009

Overall, the number of participants has increased by more than 300. Everything good except the recovery of luggage took a long time. Resolve to enjoy running and life!

Re: Results for Perskindol Shatin 10K Riverside Race 2009

just wonder if there is any reasons to highlight some of the runner names of the overall result.

Re: Results for Perskindol Shatin 10K Riverside Race 2009

finally, i think the highlighted are refer to ladies...

Re: Results for HKMP Shatin 10K Riverside Race 2009

On the way back, there was a collapsed Caucasian runner down near the 1 km mark. I hope he is ok. Resolve to enjoy running and life!

Re: Results for HKMP Shatin 10K Riverside Race 2009

what happened to the runner with a BIB number 7 ? we see him running at the front of the pack but cannot see him on the final ranking

Re: Results for HKMP Shatin 10K Riverside Race 2009

Dear Arno, If we check the result list (in Excel Format) at the webiste of Hong Kong Marathon Pro, the runner of Bib No. 7 is placed on the "DO Not Finish List". There are two possibilites. First, he got injured and so did not complete the race. Second, the system could not detect his time at the finish point and so the organizer treated him as "Do not Finish". I think it is most likely the latter case because my wife is in similar siutation. She completed her race and should rank 5th in her category. However, the system could not detect her time in the 5K and finish point, so she was also placed on the "DO Not Finish List", even though a lot of photographs show that she was running along the course. It happens to some other runners. Some did not have the start time, the 5K or/and finish time. I wonder if the organizer can do something to rectify it. Indeed my wife feel a little frustrated (though there was no prize for the 4th runner-up).

Re: Results for HKMP Shatin 10K Riverside Race 2009

the runner #7 did not finish. for whatever reason, he slowed down during the race and come back jogging to finish without passing the finishing mat

Re: Results for HKMP Shatin 10K Riverside Race 2009

I also saw no. 7 was walking aside when I ran to the finishing pt. Mr. LOK, you may call the organizer to verify the result of your wife.

Re: Results for HKMP Shatin 10K Riverside Race 2009

Runner number 7 was Dannie Haile a promising Ethiopian runner that had a great start but somehow managed to take a wrong turn at some point. Consequently he drifted off the course and when he realised he had gone wrong he jogged back to the finish. Better luck to the guy next time.

Re: Results for HKMP Shatin 10K Riverside Race 2009

that's indeed very bad luck. The race was well organised though, hard to imagine having gone the wrong way with so many marshalls positioned in key locations Good luck to him next time then, i'm sure he would do a very good time

african invasion?

man, looks like the african runners are moving to hong kong... I wonder whether HK will become like Malaysia, where the top 10 men in the open's category are all africans.

Re: african invasion?

This is really a dumb comment to make. You have 2 African runners in a race and you have an invasion. So based on your theory we have an invasion of English, Italians, Americans, Canadians.... Please keep your racist comments to yourself... Thomas is here to fistly be here with his partner and secondly he is extremely enthusiastic to contribute to the development of running, there is no financial benefit for him to run in the local races, usually prizes are vouchers here so it is hardly an incentive to create an invasion of professional runners.

Re: african invasion?

I totally agree with you Bigeasy!

Re: african invasion?

I think she's half-joking when saying that...

Re: african invasion?

Berlingirl's comment doesn't seem to have any obvious racist implication to me. It's an off-the-cuff comment remarking on the fact that we now have African runners in some HK races. How do you know she's not celebrating the fact? Using the word '... Invasion' is not all that unusual. Is it necessarily a negative way to speak? I for one would look forward to an 'african invasion' of our running scene. The fast times, development, and excitement it would bring! How can we attract more African runners here? Any ideas?

Re: Chinese invasion?

maybe you should put the comment in a context... racism is out of the question (especially for a chinese living overseas) since the lady is winning some races around Chigago... I guess that over there someone is posting on Chigagorunners.com such as "now also chinese runners in our races... "

Re: Chinese invasion?

http://hk.myblog.yahoo.com/dmc7779 fully agree with Robertov...lets not over react to this...dont read into what is not there .

Re: Chinese invasion?

Berlingirl, let Robertov and myself heal our tendons and then you will see the real invasion....the ITALIAN INVASION!!! At the end Thomas just won 4-5 races and there is no other african except for him with such a good trackrecord here...Try to count how many races Roberto and me we have won last season and you will be amazed!! ciao p.s. Of course I am joking and do not see an offense to anybody and I believe that berling girl was kinda joking to!

Re: Chinese invasion?

I don't know Berlingirl personally, so I don't know the context of her comment. I do know that if that African runners may read her comments in a different light. I advise you to speak to some African runners so they tell you of there experiences in Asia, you will then understand why I am annoyed.

Re: Results for HKMP Shatin 10K Riverside Race 2009

Gees, thank you guys for defending me. It is hard to say anything that does not offend someone nowadays :p In fact I would be flattered if people here call me part of the "chinese invasion". But I am just too slow comparing to the top US runners. :-( Nothing wrong with invasion, that just means you need to get stronger to defend yourself. Stefano, I am very impressive with your performances lately. Looks like you might catch Thomas soon. Coming to the US to do a race soon? We got Olympians in "local races", very exciting. I am running a 8-k race in 2 weeks, and 2 years ago, Constantina Tomescu-Dita, the BeiJing marathon gold medalist was there. Some observation on US races: 1. If you get the overall awards, you do not get the age group one. No double awards. 2. Big races have "the top 100" program, in which if you meet the qualify time, you get to start from the front with the other top runners. For the "top 100" people, gun time is counted, otherwise chip time rules. Maybe HK should consider this?

Re: Chinese invasion?

In defense of Berlingirl, the topic of foreigners running in the states have come up every few years since I started running 15 years ago. In fact I was surprise to see an article as a main topic of a popular political weekly. http://www.villagevoice.com/2008-12-17/news/will-run-for-food As far as I am concern, if top runners can make a better living somewhere else because they are faster than most people, might as well do it. It's no different than having foreigners playing for the country's football team because they are better than most players in the country. Rooblat

Re: Results for HKMP Shatin 10K Riverside Race 2009

I would like to start a French invasion but I am not fast enough!! Maybe a French revolution why not, I need to think big. Erich maybe you could help? Anybody out there? Philippe PS I would even consider alliances to defeat the brits.

Re: Results for HKMP Shatin 10K Riverside Race 2009

You guys should stick around for the Scottish invasion. Just as soon as we stop stuffing ourselves with chips and deep-fried Mars Bars.

Re: Results for HKMP Shatin 10K Riverside Race 2009

Don't get me started on the Yorkshire separatist movement!

Re: Results for HKMP Shatin 10K Riverside Race 2009

best for lady antebellum lady

Re: Results for HKMP Shatin 10K Riverside Race 2009

Most non-Yorkshiremen in England would also be in favour of this. No point contaminating the home counties with bad cricket and funny voices!

Re: Results for HKMP Shatin 10K Riverside Race 2009
